September 22, 2012, 2:30 p.m. Official Selection United Film Festival, Chicago, IL. We're excited to be screening at the fabulous and historic Music Box Theater. Chicago Tribune columnist Eric Zorn who wrote, Change of Subject: The Affirmative Case for Reforming Academic Debate, will participate in an informal debate against Les Lynn, founding director/current director of programming, Chicago Debate League and Chicago Debate Commission, following the screening. Zorn will argue that the current state of academic debate (where debaters speak in excess of 400 words per minute) needs to be either slowed down or done away with, while Lynn will argue that fast talk is actually educationally valuable.
Fast Talk director, Debra Tolchinsky, will also be there for a Q&A.
